British Youth Championship 2021

The wait is nearly over for the 2021 British Youth Riders in the 500cc and 250cc classes, as the first round takes place at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester this evening, ahead of the Belle Vue Colts National League fixture versus the Berwick Bullets.

The 500cc class will produce a new British Champion this year, as several riders in this class have now exceeded the Under 16 age limit and moved on to ride in the National Development League and for a few, even the Championship and Premiership leagues.

Favourites for the championship this year before a wheel has turned, will be National League riders Sam McGurk (Belle Vue Colts) and Ben Trigger (Leicester Cubs), although it would be unfair to rule out any of the riders out at this stage.

The exciting 250cc class will consist of the top 3 riders from the 2020 Championship; Luke Harrison, Max James and Ashton Vale, but the top 3 from last year’s series will not be able to rest on their laurels, as the class has increased this year and now includes the 2020 British 125cc Champion Sonny Springer and Scotland based Ace Pijper the son of International rider Theo, amongst others.

The full line up is as follows –

500cc Max Perry, Callum Gill, Ben Trigger, Alex Goldsbrough, Cameron Taylor, Vinnie Foord and Sam McGurk

250cc Luke Harrison, Charlie Wood, Freddy Hodder, Max James, Sonny Springer, Ashton Vale, Jody Scott and Ace Pijper

The Young Lions would like to thank their series sponsors, and the Belle Vue promotion for their continued support
